Growth requires professionalization

The company from Tyrol has experienced enormous growth in recent years and has developed from a manufactory into an industrial company. In addition to the production at the headquarters in Vomp, another production site – the PLANFACTORY – was recently opened in Murau.

In this growth, the professionalization of the production processes plays a major role. This is the task of Stephan Oberhauser, Head of Supply Chain Management, who is responsible for production at both locations.

Introduction of One-Piece-Flow

The focus is on the assembly activities of the individual components. It is important to Oberhauser that all employees receive and document their orders digitally. For this purpose, all workers work with the assembly-software from Scable. Here they receive the upcoming orders including a clear presentation of the required individual parts and work steps directly at the workstations. A real highlight is the „Pick-by-Light“ system: the relevant parts that are needed light up on the shelf.

„Due to the high standardization of the assembly activities, we also ensure our high quality in assembly“, Oberhauser summarizes. Since then, output has increased signifi cantly and non-skilled workers can also take over work steps. This also helps in times of a shortage of skilled workers.

The assembly of lights at planlicht now happens in a one-piece-flow.

Of course, this approach works especially well in line assembly. But Oberhauser also uses the software off the lines to control communication across the shopfl oor. Especially with the additional production site, it is important to be able to quickly view all relevant data. Oberhauser is happy: „The software is my most important tool. As the company grew, leadership became more and more important and needed a structure. The software provides me that.“
